Lent

I am not a Catholic, not even close. But I like the idea of giving up something bad for a set amount of time. That way I have a goal in mind. For me, deciding what to give up is always tough.  I don't know exactly what will happen between now and Easter so I don't know what to prepare for.

This year for spring break, my mom and I are going to Portland and Seattle where I know I will be sampling all kinds of foods, so giving up a certain type of food seems like a bad idea. I know a lot of people who are giving up social media, but I just started this blog, so I'm not stopping now. I can't give up soda or fast food because I already did that. I don't cuss.. So we are back to food.

I have quite the sweet tooth. It is a serious problem for me. If I can manage to go one day with out a brownie or cookies I am doing great! I would like to give up sweets entirely BUT, I know that I will be visiting a few restaurants in Portland that are known for their desserts. So I am giving up, the worst offender: brownies.

I am a brownieaholic. I could make a batch of brownies and eat the whole pan. I spend 1.29 at least twice a week on the brownies they sell in the union. I have memorized which restaurants have the best brownies. I admit it, I have a problem.

So this year, I will not eat a single crumb off of a brownie. Not even a bad one. No brownies for me, until April (I am still trying to figure out the exact day since the catholic church contradicts itself constantly, some say Thursday the 5th, others Saturday the 7th).

Work It

I have recently started working out seriously, for the first time since high school. Anyone who knows anything about me, knows how weird that is. But its true, i'm actually regularly going to the rec center (3 times a week) and doing a work out DVD (everyday). Not only is my working out a weird thing, but using a DVD is just absurd.

I was strolling through the "Fitness" section on Pinterest, when I came across a pin of Jillian Michael's "30 Day Shred". I am quite the skeptic, so I did a ton of research before deciding to spend the $10 dollars on the DVD. That night (last Thursday) I did Level 1. This thing was definitely worth $10! I woke up Friday morning, more sore than I had been in 5 years! Combined with the 3 days of elliptical a week I will for sure be in shape again!

Today is only day 6 with the DVD, so no real progress aside from the higher endurance, which I am very excited about! After I finish the full 30 days I will be sure to let you know what other changes I have noticed!

3rd Time's a Charm?

This will make blog number three for me. The first and second times I posted once every month for three months then deleted it. This blog, I have ideas for. At least tonight I do, next week I might forget all about it. But i'm here now and planning to keep up with this thing.

See, i'm an introvert. I don't like telling people the most intimate details of my life. But the purpose of this blog, is to get better at that.

I'm currently in two online classes that require me to post on "Discussion Boards" and talk to people. That is not easy for me. You can probably tell, writing was not my strongest subject in grade school. But writing posts that will be read by my peers and then graded by someone i've never met is pretty intimidating. So, i'm here to improve. We'll see how well that works out.

Anyway, all sorts of goodness has been going on in my life recently. For the first time in a LONG time, I feel like, in almost every aspect of my life, I'm in the right place. Im sure you'll hear about all of that goodness, and some bad stuff, later on. For tonight, this is all you get.
